SWAY

Sway's original band members, Matt and Paul, first started playing together with their friend Ian on drums back in the Fall of 2000. The band's formation and continued existence can be considered to be a direct result of Paul's uncle and current drummer, Victor, having passed down a spare drumset. This basic set of drums would be the key element to the then-unnamed band's progress. After four years of jams, a few lineup and subsequent band name changes, the band called Sway began the mission of pushing their fledgling original tunes to the masses. Sway recently broke from the garage scene in the summer of 2005 to score some local gigs in the Harlingen area including Copz Lounge, the Hop Shop and Valley Girls Gentlemen's Club. Attendees to Sway shows agree that their style is varied and versatile with all-original material ranging from alternative, pop, punk, reggae, ska, blues and funk. The guys share an easy-going attitutude, having a good time playing music for the sake of sheer fun and being a creative outlet while honing their skills along the way. With four years of jams under their belt and plenty of material to come, Sway is helping to bring something new and groovy to the Rio Grande Valley.
